PHIL FODEN appeared to break social distancing rules on Sunday as he enjoyed a kick-about on the beach.

The Manchester City star got stuck in after he challenged members of the public to a match at the Merseyside hotspot.

Video footage shows the England Under-21 ace within touching distance of his opponents as they tried to tackle him.

The 20-year-old showed off his skills as he effortlessly ran rings around the group of lads at Formby beach.

Foden even grinned as he posed for a picture alongside four of his opponents after the match.

Individuals in England can now meet up in groups of six outdoors - but must abide by social distancing guidelines while doing so.

Premier League stars have been ordered to maintain the two-metre rule at all times except from when training.

And players have even been warned against taking an unnecessary trip to the shops as they prepare for football to return.

Foden risked the wrath of the Manchester City bosses by breaching the rules during his trip to the beach this weekend.

And the midfielder risked an injury ahead of his side's opening game against Arsenal - which is just over two weeks away.

He has cemented his spot in Pep Guardiola's side this season after making 32 appearances in the top-flight.

SunSport understands City will speak to Foden and remind him of his responsibilities.

Foden is not the first football star to have breached the guidelines set by Boris Johnson and Co to keep the country safe.

Man City team-mate Kyle Walker ignored the rules as he hosted a sex party with his friend and two girls at his flat.

And Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi was arrested after a 4am row with a glamour model during lockdown.
