Dele Alli has received a social-media ribbing from Tottenham and England team-mates after showing off his new lockdown moustache on Instagram.

The Spurs star, 24, uploaded a picture of his “quarantine trim” late on Sunday night.

And a number of top-flight stars couldn’t help but poke fun at him, with some even comparing the look to Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman - the most powerful drug trafficker in the world.

Spurs right-back Serge Aurier commented: “Guzman” along with the Colombian flag and several laughing emojis.

Tanguy Ndombele also couldn’t resist, writing: “Mexicano” alongside Mexican flags and laughing emojis.

London-based hairdresser Justin Carr, who tidied up the England squad’s locks and beards during the 2018 World Cup, simply posted: “El Chapo”.

Alli was even mocked by England pals Ben Chilwell and James Maddison.

The Leicester duo couldn’t get over their Three Lions team-mate’s new moustache, with Chilwell saying: “Oh my tashhh” with a laughing emoji.

While Maddison wrote: “I moustache you about the moustache”.

Not all the comments were intended to tease Alli, nonetheless.

Cardiff winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing said: “Tash on flames”.

Alli clearly saw the funny side afterwards, posting a screenshot of the replies with the caption: “THESE COMMENTS” followed by a series of laughing emojis.

The midfielder’s spirits seem to have been lifted a week after he was held at knifepoint while his home was raided by thieves.

Two men broke into the north London pad, where he has been spending lockdown with his brother and their respective partners, to steal items of jewellery and watches.

Fortunately Alli escaped with minor facial injuries before quickly assuring fans that everyone involved was “okay now”.

“Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we're all okay now. Appreciate the support,” he posted on Twitter.

Spurs added: “We have been offering our support to Dele and those isolating with him. We encourage anyone with any information to help the police with their investigation to come forward.”
