Sunderland vs Fleetwood - Sunderland to monitor Lynch ahead of clash with Fleetwood
Posted Tuesday, February 25, 2020 by PA
Joel Lynch could return to the Sunderland squad for their home game against Fleetwood.
The defender resumed training on Monday and the club’s medical staff will monitor his reaction following a rib injury.
The Black Cats have no new injury concerns after their 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Elliot Embleton remains a long-term absentee for Sunderland, who are looking to narrow the three-point gap to the division’s top two Rotherham and Coventry, who play each other on Tuesday night.
Fleetwood will still be without the suspended Ched Evans for the trip to the Stadium of Light.
The striker was sent off in the recent win at Wycombe and is still banned.
Town boss Joey Barton, a former Newcastle midfielder, is still waiting to discover his own fate after also being sent off in that game and charged by the Football Association.
The visitors could still be without Jordan Rossiter, while Kyle Dempsey is unlikely to play again this term due to a stress fracture in his back.
