Brundle and Balanta keep Daggers’ heads above water

First-half goals from Mitch Brundle and Angelo Balanta claimed struggling Dagenham a much-needed 2-0 National League victory over play-off hopefuls Solihull Moors.
Midfielder Brundle opened the scoring early on for the Daggers as he headed home at the far post following Sam Deering’s free-kick after 10 minutes at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Nathan Blissett came close to equalising just after the hour mark but he failed to get enough power onto his strike as the ball was collected by home goalkeeper Elliot Justham.
Balanta doubled Dagenham’s lead two minutes before the break as he fired Ben House’s assist home for his eighth league goal of the season.
Justham saved well from a James Ball chance on the hour mark as Solihull looked to reduce the deficit but the hosts held on to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches and remain a point above the relegation zone.
