Jordan Henderson became a father nine months after a great night in Liverpool's history

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson and his wife have given birth to a baby boy exactly 39 weeks after the Reds beat Barcelona 4-0 in one of the most epic Champions League second leg comebacks of all time.

The turn of events has tickled Kop fans who are adamant that the connection in more than just a coincidence.

Jurgen Klopp's Champions League dreams seemed in tatters after a Lionel Messi inspired Barca crushed them 3-0 at the Nou Camp.

But the famous Anfield atmosphere helped Liverpool miraculously turn the tide and run out 4-0 winners thanks to some quick thinking from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Divock Origi for the fourth goal.

There is no word from Henderson himself on whether his son was indeed conceived that night, but Reds fans are convinced he was.

It appears that the former Sunderland star wasn't the only Liverpool player who savoured the evening, with teammate Mo Salah's wife also giving birth recently.

"Nine months after that victory over Barca Jordan Henderson has become a father to a baby boy. Not just the Liverpool captain, but his missus also delivers #LFC #YNWA," tweeted one fan.

"I'm so glad Henderson and Salah's wives gave birth during this winter break so they don't have to miss any games. Even the wives want this league title," added another.

"Shout out to the beautiful mothers of Mo Salah's and Jordan Henderson's new babies, who had the grace and courtesy to give birth during winter break," joked a third.

"Congratulations to Jordan and Rebecca Henderson on the birth of their new baby boy Divock Henderson," tweeted another happy Reds fan.

A conspiratorial fifth added: "Jordan Henderson's son being born exactly 39 weeks after Liverpool beat Barcelona 4-0. Coincidence?"

Liverpool went on to beat Tottenham in the Champions League final to become European champions for the sixth time and they face Atletico Madrid in the next round of the title defence later this month.

When Klopp's squad return from the winter break on 15 February, they'll face Norwich as they continue their quest for a first league title since 1990.
