Curtis Weston’s dramatic stoppage-time winner earned Chesterfield a valuable 3-2 comeback victory over fellow National League strugglers Wrexham.
Weston blasted in off the crossbar to give the Spireites a welcome three points at the Proact Stadium.
Wrexham opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Chesterfield captain Will Evans headed a Jay Harris free-kick into his own net, but the Spireites were level within four minutes when Tom Denton smashed home from close range after being set up by Weston.
The visitors regained their lead midway through the second half when Jordan Ponticelli sidefooted past Shwan Jalal. However, Chesterfield were again quick to level, substitute Liam Mandeville netting from close range just three minutes later after goalkeeper Rob Lainton had only half-cleared a corner.
Evans saw his header from David Buchanan’s corner headed off the line in the 87th minute by Wrexham’s Luke Summerfield, before Weston won it.
