Karl Robinson believed Marcus Browne could deliver the goods

Oxford boss Karl Robinson had total belief in his January signing Marcus Browne to deliver after he thrust him up front in the 2-1 win over Blackpool.
On-loan Middlesbrough forward Browne has usually been deployed in a wider role, but Robinson felt his pace and finishing was worthy of him playing through the middle.
And the move worked a treat with the former West Ham player making one and then scoring the winner as the U’s came from behind to claim a vital three points in their push for promotion.
Oxford’s first goal was initially credited to Browne, as well as the second, but the shot deflected in off Mark Sykes – so the opener has been given to Sykes instead.
U’ss boss Robinson said: “I thought Marcus had that in him. He’s so quick and so talented, the man.
“It’s a big win for us. And although some people have been disappointed that two of our players have been sold on deadline day, I’m really happy with my squad and the closeness of our squad.
“Sometimes you can over bring in players.
“I can’t ask any more from any of my players. In the first half we moved the ball well.
“We started with loads of energy and appetite.”
Gary Madine fired Blackpool in front in the 10th minute but then missed a golden chance to bring the Tangerines a point in the last minute of stoppage time when he shot against the outside of the post with just the keeper to beat from a weak back pass by Josh Ruffels.
Robinson admitted: “Certainly our hearts were in our mouths with that virtual last kick of the game.
“But sometimes in football you need that bit of luck.”
Blackpool have now picked up just two points in eight games, and this was their sixth single-goal defeat in a row.
Boss Simon Grayson said: “We played well and had a good shape about us. We pressed them and passed the ball in the right areas. We worried them at times.
“And our attacking players don’t get the same amount of time and space that Oxford were given today.
“We’ve got to make sure we defend better.
“It would have been good had we been able to keep the lead until half-time and then had the wind at our backs in the second half, but it wasn’t to be.
“But there were some good personal performances from us today.
“If we continue playing like that, and eradicate the mistakes, we’ll start picking up results again.
“We just need to find a performance to bring us a result.
“We just need a win to get us up and running again. And it isn’t far away.”
