Unai Emery was sacked in November following a run of nine games without a win.

Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery has slammed Gunners fans by stating ‘they threw me out’ of the club toward the end of his tenure. Emery was winless in nine games when he got the sack back in November before being replaced by Mikel Arteta.

Emery has a rough ride as Arsenal boss which started at the beginning of last season when he was appointed.

Arsenal began the season well but quickly tailed off and missed out on the Champions League places before losing in the Europa League final to Chelsea.

And this season wasn’t much better as the Gunners lost multiple games to clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League.

Arsenal then went on a run which saw them go without a win in nine games and that was the end of the road for Emery.

But the Spaniard has slammed Arsenal fans by effectively blaming them for his sacking in an interview with Spanish publication Marca.

Emery also spoke of four problems that haunted his time at the club.

"There were several problems: four captains; the [Mesut] Ozil - [Sead] Kolasinac case; [Nicolas] Pepe's signing, which needs time to be that of France,” Emery said.

"We didn't play well, that's for sure.

"That brought us bad results, there was no improvement, the fans focused on me and they threw me out.

"But I keep the positive things, there were many.

"I had the funeral and mourning. After my cessation, I dreamed a month of things about Arsenal.

"It was a natural process. And I overcame that duel.

"When I no longer dreamed them, I already knew that I had overcome it. Now I am already feeding myself."

Emery, however, backed his successor Arteta to prevail at Arsenal, despite a tough start.

"Mikel has a lot of experience as a footballer and has worked alongside Pep [Guardiola], who is the best," he added.

"He fits perfectly as an Arsenal manager. He is playing a 4-2-3-1, like ours.

"Ozil is still his No 10, and bit by bit he is finding his identity. But after my exit, the hostile atmosphere calmed down.

"The results have not been the best, but you have to allow time for that to happen."
