Waterfall returns from suspension as Grimsby face Stevenage

Grimsby defender Luke Waterfall is available for Tuesday night’s League Two clash with Stevenage after completing a three-match ban.

Waterfall was sent off for a 10th-minute challenge on Jacob Mellis as new manager Ian Holloway launched his reign with a 1-0 win at Mansfield on January 4, and sat out the games against Leyton Orient, Exeter and Crawley as a result.

Striker Matt Green could return after missing the last five games with the groin injury which forced his premature exit from the 1-1 draw with Crawley on December 29.

Jordan Cook (calf), Harry Davis (ankle) and Ahkeem Rose (hamstring) are likely to be unavailable once again, while Harry Cardwell (also hamstring) will not play again this season.

Stevenage striker Simeon Jackson could be handed a first start following two appearances as a substitute since joining the club until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old Canada international came off the bench in both the club’s 3-0 leasing.com Trophy defeat at Exeter and Saturday’s 2-1 league reverse at the hands of Plymouth and will hope for a chance to show what he can do from the start.

Manager Graham Westley made two changes at the weekend as midfielders Tom Soares and Charlie Carter came in for Charlie Lakin and Dean Parrett, with Carter claiming his side’s late consolation strike.

Bottom-of-the-table Stevenage have won just one of their last 13 league games, although are just a single point adrift of Morecambe in 23rd place.
