Simeon Jackson in contention for Stevenage start

Struggling Stevenage are set to include new signing Simeon Jackson in their line-up for the Sky Bet League Two clash with promotion-chasing Plymouth on Saturday.

The 32-year-old Canada international forward, who has played in the Premier League for Norwich as well as featuring in the Bundesliga and the Scottish Premiership, has joined the club until the end of the season.

Jackson made his first appearance for the Boro in their 3-0 Leasing.com Trophy quarter-final defeat at Exeter on Tuesday, coming on after 56 minutes and creating a favourable impression.

He must now wait to see if he gets the nod from manager Graham Westley to start after fellow new recruit Jake Cassidy scored on his debut in last week’s 4-0 win at Cambridge.

Plymouth are boosted by the availability of striker Dom Telford after recovering from a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old former Bury man has missed the last three matches after pulling up in the New Year’s Day fixture against Swindon but manager Ryan Lowe says he has taken a full part in training with the Pilgrims’ squad this week and is in contention.

However, Lowe says Telford’s strike partner Ryan Taylor is still a week away from regaining fitness from a foot problem and he will not rush back Callum McFadzean and Will Aimson.

Taylor has been wearing a protective boot, while midfielder McFadzean injured his knee at the start of December and defender Aimson has been struggling with a pelvic injury.
