Wellens salutes Doyle display

Manager Richie Wellens praised hat-trick hero Eoin Doyle’s “complete performance” after Swindon secured back-to-back victories for the first time since mid-September.
Former Republic of Ireland international Doyle, the leading scorer in League Two, now boasts 13 goals in 13 league games for the Robins since joining on a season-long loan from Bradford.
Jerry Yates’ late goal sealed a comfortable 4-0 win over Crawley and Wellens insisted the players will not let the success go to their heads as they climb to fifth in the table.
He said: “Eoin produced the complete centre-forward’s performance.
“But the service he receives is vital; our full-backs get high and Lloyd Isgrove has the (most) assists in the league.
“Eoin is on a season-long loan, I’m not sure what will happen but we’ll deal with it.”
Swindon, after winning five of their opening eight games, hit a sticky patch before returning to form and Wellens added: “We won’t get too high on these kind of days.
“It’s about being consistent and we gave our fans a performance; our possession was close to 70 per cent.
“I did say you won’t see the best of us until late November or December.”
Crawley head coach Gabriele Cioffi apologised to supporters after an abject performance left them with only one win in their last eight league games.
The Italian said he took full responsibility and admitted: “We have to apologise to the supporters, the club and ourselves; the squad wasn’t us.
“It must never happen again. We were empty on the pitch, we forgot completely who we are and the players must lift themselves.”
Cioffi is hoping for maximum support from a sell-out crowd in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Colchester and added: “It’s an important night.
“I’m looking for a reaction as, if I could, I would change 18 players and probably the manager as well.
“From tomorrow we start to work again, we need strong support and we need to push each other to get to 50 points.”
