Fred was ripped apart by fans for his showing against Newcastle on Sunday

Manchester United succumbed to a dismal 1-0 defeat at Newcastle on Sunday to continue their woeful run of form.

Matty Longstaff grabbed the winner for the Toon on his Premier League debut as the Red Devils put in a poor showing all round.

There were several United players who were not at the races.

But fans picked on Fred in particular, as he failed to show £53m worth of talent, not for first time.

The Brazil international has failed to impress since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer.

And it appears United fans’ patience with the 26-year-old has just about run out.

Taking to Twitter, the Old Trafford faithful blasted him.

“Not much is made of how much of a bad signing fred has been for United. He cost s*** loads and is absolutely horrific,” one wrote.

A second added: “How are Fred and Perriera starting games at Manchester United. Woeful both of them!”

“I’m a better footballer than Fred. Give me his contract,” a third demanded.

While a fourth put: “Fred is the worst signing in our history. £50-60m for a cowardly midfielder who’s afraid to pass the ball forward and can’t shoot is terrible. Tried to be supportive but he’s not helping himself.

“Fred is the worst signing in premier league history it’s not even debatable,” an adamant fifth wrote.

A sixth tweeted: “Fred might be the worst United signing ever. No clue how he is worth 6.4 million nevermind 64 million.”

“I’m sure Fred the Red is better at football than Fred,” another added.
