Montrose registered their first win in Scottish League One this season following a thrilling 4-3 home victory over Peterhead.
The Gable Endies had picked up just one point and scored five goals in their opening seven matches.
Joel MacBeath (13), with his first senior goal, had put Montrose ahead only for Scott Brown to level with a deflected strike (20).
A curler from Graham Webster (28) and Paul Watson’s long-range effort (44) gave the home side a two-goal lead at half-time.
But that was wiped out within seven minutes of the restart as Michael Dunlop (49) and Jamie Stevenson (52) hauled Peterhead level.
However, Webster scored his second stunner of the match in the 67th minute to help Montrose end a run of six successive defeats.
Kieran MacDonald netted a stoppage-time winner as Raith came from behind to win 2-1 at Forfar and move two points clear at the top.
Russell McLean, signed on loan from Montrose on Friday, put Forfar ahead on the stroke of half-time but Lewis Vaughan equalised six minutes after the break.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw until MacDonald popped up two minutes into added time with his first goal for the club.
East Fife are still unbeaten this season following a goalless draw at Falkirk, who remain third having seen their 100 per cent home record come to an end.
Paul McKay struck in the first minute of stoppage time as Airdrieonians salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to 10-man Stranraer.
Jordan Allan (8) and James Hilton (31) had given the visitors a 2-0 lead before Callum Smith (66) reduced the arrears.
Stranraer had David Dangana sent off (76) and McKay punished them.
Goals from Chris McStay (61) and Chris Johnston (75) saw Clyde pick up their first away win as they came from behind to beat Dumbarton 2-1 after Paul Crossan’s 42nd-minute opener.
