Hudson-Odoi steps up recovery with u23s strike
Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi stepped up his recovery from a long-term Achilles injury with a goal for the club's under-23s on Saturday.
The 18-year-old, linked with Bayern Munich over the summer, will be hoping to make his first-team return soon after signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge earlier this week.
Hudson-Odoi scored 56 minutes into Chelsea's 2-0 win over Southampton in Premier League 2 Division 1, before being substituted 20 minutes later.
Madrid consider Alonso as Zidane replacement
Florentino Perez is considering former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso as a possible replacement for Zinedine Zidane, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Zidane is under some pressure at the Bernabeu with Madrid starting the season in inconsistent form.
Alonso is currently the manager of Real Sociedad B in the Spanish second tier, while legendary Madrid forward Raul is also linked with the role.
Arsenal made offer for defender Vanheusden
Arsenal were keen on signing Standard Liege defender Zinho Vanheusden over the summer, according to Standard boss Michel Preud'homme.
The 20-year-old Belgian centre-back impressed on loan from Inter last season, making his loan deal permanent over the summer for a Belgian record fee.
"Last season he showed his qualities," Preud'homme told Het Laatste Niews. “That is why we have invested heavily in keeping him here.
"At a certain point Arsenal seriously knocked at the door, but we were able to convince Zinho to stay and we are happy about that.”
Solari favourite to take Miami job
Former Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari is the favourite to become manager of David Beckham's new MLS side Inter Miami, report BeIN SPORTS.
The 40-year-old had a short-lived spell as Madrid manager last season after spending several years with the club's youth and reserve teams.
Manchester City's David Silva has this weekend been linked with a move to Miami at the end of this season.
Zidane not thinking about Eriksen and Van de Beek
Zinedine Zidane refused to talk about whether Real Madrid would be going back for Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek after trying to sign them over the summer.
The Frenchman oversaw a huge rebuild of the squad over the summer but Madrid are yet to click into gear and were beaten 3-0 at PSG in the Champions League.
Ex-Barca director Fernandez to join Valencia
Former Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez looks set to join Valencia, according to El Desmarque.
Valencia have already waved goodbye to Pablo Longoria and are set for a shake up in the board.
The Spanish side are looking at candidates to replace Longoria and Fernandez, who spent three years as a director at Barca, is the top candidate.
Inter demand €20m for Gabigol
Inter have told Flamengo they will have to pay around €20 million to sign Gabriel Barbosa on a permanent deal.
The striker has excelled with the Brazilian side since joining on loan from Inter, but his spell there will come to an end in December.
Flamengo have made clear they want to buy him outright and Inter want to offload him instead of sending him on loan again.
But Calciomercato says the 23-year-old's awesome record of 21 goals in 24 games for Flamengo has prompted Inter to lift the asking price.
Flamengo are not far from meeting Inter's demands, as they are said to be offering €18m, but the extra €2m may be a tall order for the club.
Real Madrid tracking Rennes star Camavinga
The Spanish giants have sent scouts to watch teenager in action
Real Madrid have started scouting Rennes youngster Eduardo Camavinga, Marca reports.
The 16-year-old's stock is rising since he was given a regular spot in the Rennes first-team this season and excelled in their clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
All the top teams are expected to be after him and many have been linked already. Madrid are already monitoring him closely, though, and have watched him several times this season.
Rangers beat Man Utd to Czech teenager
Rangers have signed 16-year-old Krystof Hampl from Czech side FK Pardubice, Efotbal reports.
The midfielder had trials at Manchester United, Sporting Braga and Benfica as well as spending time at the Glasgow side.
The youngster believes that he will have more opportunities in Scotland than anywhere else and has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.
Larsson being interviewed for Southend job
Celtic and Barcelona legend Henrik Larsson is being interviewed for the vacant managerial post at League One side Southend United, according to the Southend Echo.
Larsson was present for Southend's game at MK Dons on Saturday, despite initially being ruled out of contention for the job.
The 48-year-old has managed a number of teams in his native Sweden, most recently at Helsingborg.
'United have to buy for the future'
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United must have the next few years in mind if they look to buy in the January transfer window, according to Paul Merson.
The pundit believes United have spent too much money on older players in recent years - with Alexis Sanchez's nightmare at Old Trafford being the most obvious example.
"Look at the stars who have done well this season," he told the Daily Star. "Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James are all good players and all the right age.
"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must build a team for two or three years down the line. If they’re spending in the next window, they need to go young again."
Bernardo Silva eyeing Benfica return
Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva says he would like to return to former club Benfica at some point in his career.
The 25-year-old was one of Pep Guardiola's main men last season as City won the quadruple and, while he has no desire to cut his time in Manchester short just yet, Silva would return to his boyhood club with a point to prove after only making one first-team league appearance.
Villa to rival Leeds for Coventry youngster
Aston Villa have joined Leeds in the race to sign 19-year-old left-back Sam McCallum from League One side Coventry, according to Football Insider.
After making a handful of appearances around the middle of last season, McCallum has now established himself in the Coventry first team and his good performances have attracted attention from higher up the EFL and beyond.
It is reported Villa will keep a close eye on his progress over the coming months.

Scholes: Man United need a striker
Paul Scholes has said Manchester United should look to sign a striker soon, given their lack of rescuers in attacking areas.
"I think Ole will be looking. I’d be more worried about the centre-forward position, I know we spoke about Mason Greenwood coming through,” Scholes told BBC 5Live.
"We have Marcus [Rashford] and [Anthony] Martial, but are they centre-forwards or are they wingers? We’re not quite sure.

Juventus considering new Higuian deal
Gonzalo Higuian could be offered a new contract by Juventus after a positive start to the season.
The Argentinian’s future seemed destined to be away from Turin after he was loaned to AC Milan and Chelsea last season, but the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as head coach has breathed new life into his Juve career.

Smith reveals previous Arsenal interest in Engles
Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has said Arsenal were interested in signing defender Bjorn Engles a few years ago, when playing for Olympiakos.
Smith, who was Brentford boss at the time, admitted he has monitored the centre-back for a number of seasons and was asked if he was aware that Arsenal were once rumoured to be keen on Engles.
"I was,” said Smith. “It wasn't only Arsenal as well, there were a few other teams who were interested.
"He'd been on my radar for a long time. He was at Olympiakos at the time but they had a deal going with Reims so it was tough to get involved in that. I was happy to bring him here, he's come in and done really well.”
Gerrard keen to offload Grezda
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has it made it clear Eros Grezda will not play again for the club, after he was accused of spitting at Ballymena United player Andrew Burns during a U21 game.
"Grezda has been told face-to-face what his situation is,” Gerrard said, as per the Express.
"He has been advised to find a different challenge for himself and his representation is aware of that.
"We’re trying to be respectful and give him game time to keep his fitness levels up as there are still a few windows open around the world that may suit him. However, if you behave in that manner you won’t represent this club at any level.”
Levy: Stadium cost won't affect finances
Daniel Levy has said the building of Tottenham’s stadium will not affect their transfer spending in the coming years.
Spurs borrowed £637million in loans to construct the new ground, but the club confirmed this week that they have converted most of the debt into bonds through US investors to stagger payments, meaning it should not have an immediate affect on Tottenham’s ability to spend money on new signings.
"The refinancing will have no bearing on how we run the club… and no bearing on those types of short-term movements [like transfers],” Levy told the Financial Times.
Pellegrini knows Rice valuation could increase
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted he knows Declan Rice’s value could increase this season, with Manchester United supposedly interested in signing the youngster this summer.
"His value will depends on what happens this season but his mind is not thinking about that,” Pellegrini said.
"At the beginning of last season he has a low contract, because he was coming as a young player and he continued working and he didn't make any trouble with that contract.
"After that he improved and now he's not thinking about money,” he added.
Barca plan to sell Umtiti and Rakatic
The MailOnline claim Barcelona plan to sell Samuel Umtiti and Ivan Rakatic this summer to generate extra revenue.
The Spanish champions are aiming to become the first side to break the £1 billion mark for income and see the sale of players as a surefire to achieve their aim.
Umtiti and Rakatic could earn Barca as much as £110 million ($137m/€125m) should they be sold in the summer, something the Catalans were willing to allow this year.
Pep backs Arteta to succeed him at City
Pep Guardiola has said he thinks assistant manager Mikel Arteta will one day replace him as Manchester City manager.
"I'm pretty sure [he'll succeed me]. He will have success," Guardiola said of Arteta.
"Sooner or later it's going to happen. He's a young, young manager. He has experience already, handling big players and big teams.

Liverpool to pay £10m for Elliott
Fulham are confident Liverpool will be forced to pay £10 million ($12m) for youngster Harvey Elliott.
The 16-year-old joined the Reds in the summer on youth terms, with Elliott not able to sign a professional contract until he turns 17 in April.
However, as reported by Football Insider, Fulham believe they will receive a record compensation package and have assembling a dossier to convince a tribunal why they should be awarded such a hefty fee, for a player considered to be star of the future.
Former Man Utd midfielder Anderson retires at 31
Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson has retired from football at age 31.
The Brazilian was playing in Turkey for second-tier side Adana Demirspor, but the club's chairman Murat Sancak has said that Anderson has decided to hang up his boots.
Anderson joined Man Utd in 2007 from Porto for a reported fee of €30 million and went on to win four Premier League titles.
Liverpool paid £1m settlement to Man City for hacking
The Times reports that Liverpool paid Manchester City a £1 million settlement in 2013 after City complained that their scouting system had been hacked.
In September 2013, Liverpool paid the confidential settlement after hacking experts hired by City detected foul play in their system.
The settlement came a year after three ex-City scouts moved to Liverpool.
Ex-Milan midfielder Mauri joining Talleres de Cordoba
Former AC Milan midfielder Jose Mauri is set to join Argentine side Talleres de Cordoba, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The 23-year-old played sparingly with Milan after joining on a free transfer from Parma in 2015.
Mauri is making the move to Argentina in part due to family reasons, as his fiancee lives in Cordoba.
Olsson announces retirement
Former West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has announced his retirement from football.
The 36-year-old spent nearly nine seasons with the Baggies, making 261 appearances across the Premier League and the Championship.
The defender ended last season on a short-term contract with Wigan in the Championship.
Pochettino: Transfer uncertainty unsettled Spurs
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that his side were unsettled by early-season transfer uncertainty.
Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld were linked with moves away from north London but neither ended up leaving the club, as Spurs suffered some poor results in the early season including a home loss to Newcastle.
Wenger will take FIFA job, still wants to manage
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will join FIFA in a technical role in the coming weeks, reports ESPN FC.
The 70-year-old's role has not yet been fully defined, but he's expected to be in a position of some importance.
However, Wenger is still eager to return to coaching, having not managed a team since leaving Arsenal in 2018.
Juventus opted against spending big on Felix
The Bianconeri believed that defence needed to be the priority this summer
Juventus decided against spending big on Joao Felix this summer, instead prioritising the signing of Matthijs de Ligt, reports Calciomercato.
Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira and Felix's agent Jorge Mendes met with Juve in February, but the Bianconeri were unwilling to pay what it took to land the teenage star.
Felix would end up joining Atletico Madrid in a transfer worth €120 million (£106m/$132m).
