GIOVANI LO CELSO looks set to be one of up to three signings on transfer deadline day as Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy prepares himself for his usual mayhem.

The Argentina international flew from Seville to Stansted on Wednesday night and headed straight for the club’s training ground after he was pulled out of a friendly for Real Betis against Las Palmas.

Tottenham’s improved offer of ï¿¡55.5m appears to have unlocked the impasse, with add-ons understood to take the potential final figure closer to the ï¿¡65m valuation of the La Liga club.

An announcement is expected this morning and staff have been told to expect a busy deadline day, with Paulo Dybala of Juventus and Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham also still on the radar.

At the same time, Levy also remains in contact with Sporting Lisbon over a deal for Bruno Fernandes with the north London club confident personal terms would be in place should a transfer fee be agreed in the event of one of the other deals falling through.

Philippe Coutinho of Barcelona who was the pawn at the centre of Tottenham’s attempts to get their business done before the window shuts on Wednesday.

Reports emerged of a loan deal in the region of ï¿¡21m being agreed with the Spanish giants to secure the former Liverpool player’s services for the season – only to be scotched when the player made it clear he had no interest in the switch.

Nevertheless, the gossip could have been instrumental in clearing the impasse between Spurs and Real Betis over Lo Celso’s valuation, with the Spanish side acutely aware that a sale is in their interests with potential replacement Nabil Fekir already signed for ï¿¡17.7m.

The big question mark at the heart of all of Levy’s negotiations today is what will happen to Christian Eriksen.

Although the Denmark international has hinted he might consider extending his current deal which expires in 12 months’ time, realistically Mauricio Pochettino is planning for life without him and finding somebody to offload him before he walks away on free deal is at the heart of anything Tottenham can do today.

Yesterday Manchester United said their interest was ended with Eriksen’s heart set firmly on a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish transfer window does no shut until September 2 so a lot depends on how much trust Levy has in Madrid president Florentino Perez finally coming up with a decent offer.

Otherwise, Levy will be left looking for somebody else on the continent to come up with a decent offer for a player Spurs insist they still value in the ï¿¡50m bracket.

Tottenham’s biggest signing this summer so far is Tanguy Ndombele who joined for ï¿¡53.8m from Lyon.

Jack Clarke also came in from Leeds but was loaned straight back to the Championship club.

Spurs are now set for a busy last few hours in the transfer window ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Tottenham start their season against Aston Villa on Saturday (5.30pm).
