PAULO DYBALA won’t be a game-changing signing for Manchester United because they do not have the luxury of being able to build a team around the Argentine.

That’s the verdict of former Everton midfielder Kevin Kilbane.

Juventus forward Dybala and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku could swap places in a blockbuster player exchange before the transfer window closes for Premier League clubs this coming Thursday (3pm).

Dybala would be a marquee addition for the Red Devils as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to reshape his squad for the Norwegian’s first full season at the Old Trafford helm.

The ￡80million-rated 25-year-old was previously one of Europe’s hottest young talents and scored 22 Serie A goals in 2017-18, only being outscored by Mauro Icardi and Ciro Immobile.

Argentina international Dybala’s stock has somewhat dropped since after a disappointing 2018-19 campaign, though there is understandably still widespread excitement among United supporters about his potential arrival.

Yet Kilbane does not subscribe to the hype, insisting that United have other problems to worry about because they do not yet have a recognised system and style under Solskjaer.

Player-turned-pundit Kilbane told Irish outlet Off The Ball of Dybala: “I don’t think he’s going to make a massive difference to Manchester United.

“Good player but how are they going to fit him into that system? Where’s United’s identity? What are they going to do?

“I don’t think he’s going to make a massive difference. I think they’ve got to strengthen in areas that are much more of a priority.

“It’s a big name for United, I think it’s going to appease certain aspects of the supporters but it’s not a game changer anyway.

“He played really well against United at Old Trafford in the Champions League. He had a really, really good night then.

“That was one of the rare good nights he had across the season because it never happened for him.

“The season before he was used as a No 10, a more advanced attacking midfielder and he was getting in goalscoring positions.

“He played in a wider area last season, it didn’t work, Cristiano Ronaldo was the big signing and he was the main man.

“He proved that across the season. It’s like a 4-3-3 that they [United] play, you have to build a team around them. United don’t have the luxury of doing that I don’t think.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made two signings so far this summer in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, though Harry Maguire also looks set to join United.
