Arsenal stepping up efforts to offload Mesut Ozil to solve £50million issue

ARSENAL are reportedly stepping up their efforts to offload Mesut Ozil this summer.
Mesut Ozil has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates since Unai Emery’s appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor.
The former Germany international’s relationship with his manager has reportedly been on the rocks for several months and it's been claimed he’s unhappy at the club.
Ozil, 30, was benched by the Spaniard several times last season, which further fuelled speculation surrounding his future.
Emery is understood to be keen to get Ozil and his astronomical £350,000-a-week wages off Arsenal’s wage bill in order to finance a rebuild of his squad.
And according to The Sun, ‘a pre-tax loss of more than £50 million’ - which would’ve been offset by the windfall the Gunners would’ve received for qualifying for the Champions League - could prompt him to sell the former Real Madrid man as soon as possible.
Getting Ozil off their wage bill would significantly increase Arsenal’s transfer kitty this summer, which currently stands at a paltry £45million.
They’ll face a difficult job to do that, though, as the midfielder has no intention of leaving the Emirates anytime soon.
"Absolutely. I've got two more years on my contract,” Ozil told Sky Sports last month when asked if he wants to stay.

"I don't know after that but I've got two years left.”
When asked if he’s happy at the Emirates, the German added: "Yes. Why not?
"I’m 30 now, still got years in front of me, it's down to the club as well of course, but I've got two years here - after that I don't know what happens."
Ozil also dispelled rumours of a falling out between himself and Emery, saying: “Definitely not.

"There's always speculation, everyone inside knew that our situation is positive.
"It's frustrating [not playing]. I want to play in every game.
"Through injury, I've missed games but that's football.
"As a footballer, you always want to start games. The coach makes decisions which means you may not start but you have to keep going."
