PHILIPPE COUTINHO looks set to be ditched by Barcelona this summer - but finding a club to take him is proving difficult.

The Brazilian only moved to the Nou Camp in January 2018 in a £142million move from Liverpool but has failed to impress and is now in a state of limbo.

Barcelona want to get him off their books but a string of underwhelming displays means the clubs are hardly queuing up to sign him.

Liverpool and Chelsea have both been linked and reports in Spain have now revealed the stance of each club.

Marca say Liverpool have now ruled out a reunion with their former star as manager Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on other targets.

Klopp might be missing a midfield playmaker but it is claimed he is more concerned about signing a centre-back to play alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are said to be interested but any move depends on whether they can get their two-window transfer ban delayed or overturned.

Barcelona will almost certainly have to take a loss wherever he ends up.

The attacking midfielder has fallen out with fans after becoming a scapegoat for the failures in the Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Coutinho enjoyed a little bit of redemption as he scored in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Bolivia in the Copa America.

However, at club level, his future remains uncertain even if he is still keen to stay at Barca.

"I don't have much to say to Barcelona fans,” he said after Brazil’s win.

"I’m grateful for all the support they've always given me. I’ve had difficult moments because I've not performed as well as they were expecting on the pitch.

"But that's football and I'm working hard to improve."

Despite his willingness to stay, Barca will need to raise funds if they are to sign all the high-profile stars they have been linked with.

They have already paid £60m to Ajax for Frenkie de Jong and are set to sign Antoine Griezmann for £83million at the beginning of July.

Barcelona are also understood to be interested in Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt and he would cost around £80m.
