ARSENAL are reportedly eyeing up a shock summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund ace Mario Gotze in a cut-price deal.
The 26-year-old looks to have shaken off his fitness concerns having featured in 34 games for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
And according to Bild, Unai Emery's side are weighing up a move for the German World Cup winner - who has just a year left on his contract at Signal Iduna Park.
They claim that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the ex-Bayern Munich midfielder with the club prepared to match his wage demands.
Whle they also add that that the player is believed to be considering his future in Germany.
However they state that any formal offer for Gotze would depend on whether Arsenal win the Europa League final against Chelsea in Baku.
Should Emery's men fail to secure Champions League football for next season, it is understood that the Spaniard will be given just ï¿¡40million in the transfer market.
Gotze enjoyed a fine campaign at Dortmund, where he chipped in with seven goals and seven assists in all competitions.
He has spent his entire career playing in the Bundesliga, and has often been linked with a move to the Premier League.
The playmaker could be seen as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey who will link up with Juventus imminently on a free transfer.
While Gotze hinted of a move to Liverpool last month after claiming he is in constant contact with former boss Jurgen Klopp.
And his ex-team-mate Kevin Grosskreutz advised Gotze to sign for the Reds in September as he insisted he would fit in well at Anfield.
