Geoffrey Boycott gave MUTV an interview they did not want!

Speaking during United's end-of-year awards ceremony, former England cricketer Boycott criticised the players for a 'disappointing' season before questioning Solskjaer's ability to manage them.

The MUTV presenter carrying out the interview was clearly embarrassed as he tried to spin the conversation but Boycott refused to budge.

United can no longer qualify for next season's Champions League after a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield last weekend.

They were also dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona in emphatic fashion and have recorded just two wins in their last nine games in all competitions.

Boycott probably summed up the feelings of the majority of supporters but United have been left red-faced by it going out while they were live on air.

Boycott was asked to sum up what United meant to him at the moment and he replied: "Disappointment more than anything.

"For half of the season there was hope, some enjoyment, some good times.

"And somehow, it's kind of faded away towards the end.

"The football hasn't been inspiring, if anything they've let themselves down and the people that support Man Utd, because I think they're a bit better than that.

"But, it's not just the results. Some of the football has been hard to watch."

The MUTV presenter was clearly taken a back and attempted to turn the interview around.

Responding to Boycott, he said: "But it's a rebuilding process isn't it?

"We've got Ole as the manager now, the man to lead us forward.

"He comes from that real tough dressing room environment with Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

"So, he knows what it's like to win as a Manchester United player."

Boycott, though, was having none of it as he delivered a scathing assessment of Solskjaer's managerial credentials.

He added: "He does but he doesn't have a record of experience does he?

"He did a short time at Cardiff and then resigned - honourably.

"He's looked after a team in his home country but it's not the Premier League."
