Campbell double gives Montrose the edge

Ross Campbell’s brace means Montrose will take a 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Scottish Championship play-off semi-final against Queen of the South.

Campbell gave the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time with a finish from close range, into the bottom right corner, but saw Connor Murray’s strike into the top right cancel out their lead in the 68rd minute.

Montrose then produced an immediate response when Campbell scored again in the 69th, from similar territory but this time into the bottom left.

The second leg takes place on Saturday, when the overall winner will progress to the final to face either Forfar Athletic or Raith Rovers.
