Italy already foresees Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus exit

Juventus' elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Ajax came as a monumental surprise, although it may well carry more consequences than anybody realised on the night as Italy is already foreseeing Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus exit.

The Portuguese forward was brought in specifically to push the Bianconeri over the line in Europe this season, and after being eliminated at the hands of a team with a net summer expenditure of just 35 million euros, just over three times less than what Juventus paid for Ronaldo alone, it's likely that heads will roll.

Juve supporters woke up to a rather grim headline in Thursday's edition of La Repubblica, which stated that Ronaldo would categorically not fulfil the entirety of his contract in Turin, which is due to run until June 2022.

The newspaper believes that the 2019/20 season will be Ronaldo's final campaign in Italy, whilst also stating that the club's record signing has requested that significant moves be made to strengthen the squad in the summer.

In his debut campaign in Serie A, Ronaldo has found the net 19 times and is the current leader in the race for the Capocannoniere award, which is handed to the league's top goalscorer.

However, Juventus brought Ronaldo to the club with the intention of winning the Champions League and thus completing the club's project that has been in place since after their relegation to Serie B in 2006.

As a result of Tuesday's failure, La Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested there is a deafening silence between the two parties at the moment, with Ronaldo wanting more signings and the club hierarchy expecting more from him at the most decisive point of the campaign, although he could hardly have improved on his hat-trick against Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 and his two headers in each leg of the quarter-final with Ajax.
