Arbroath on brink of title after beating Montrose

Arbroath all but clinched the Ladbrokes League One title with a 1-0 win over Montrose as Raith Rovers and Forfar both dropped points.
Ricky Little broke the deadlock in the 64th minute for the league leaders and though Ryan Wallace’s penalty was saved, they held on for the three points.
That left them 12 points clear with only four games remaining as second-placed Raith needed a last-minute Liam Buchanan goal to draw 1-1 at Stenhousemuir.
Mark McGuigan opened the scoring just before the hour for the hosts but Buchanan’s late intervention kept his side’s notional title hopes alive.
Forfar lost 2-1 at Stranraer to forfeit any chance they had of breaking into the picture.
Joao Pereira Vitoria gave Stranraer a first-minute lead but Gary Irvine equalised midway through the first half.
Connor McManus’ 71st-minute strike restored the hosts’ lead and that was the way it stayed.
Dumbarton came from behind to win 2-1 against Brechin, who dropped below Stranraer into the relegation play-off place.
Brechin led through Dougie Hill but two goals in three minutes, from Lewis Toshney and Calum Gallagher, turned the game around before the break.
Airdrieonians and East Fife drew 0-0 in the day’s other game.
