Port Vale will be without the suspended Leon Legge for their derby with Crewe.
West Brom loanee Kyle Howkins is poised to replace Legge, who was dismissed in last week’s 2-1 win at Northampton, in central defence.
Striker Tom Pope is pushing for a recall after returning from a knee injury which kept him out for four games.
He made a goal-scoring comeback as a substitute at Northampton and may start.
Crewe are missing skipper George Ray, who is serving a one-game suspension.
Nicky Hunt is likely to replace Ray at centre-back with Alex expected to make changes.
Midfielders James Jones and Oliver Finney are pushing for recalls after being left out of the starting line-up for the 3-1 loss to Cheltenham.
Crewe, who sit 14th in Sky Bet League Two, are nine points ahead of Port Vale.
