Port Vale to monitor Tom Pope ahead of Forest Green clash

Port Vale are monitoring the fitness of captain and top scorer Tom Pope on a daily basis ahead of their Sky Bet League Two clash with Forest Green.
Pope sustained a knee injury in the goalless draw with Notts County on March 2 and has been missing since.
In his absence the Valiants have registered two wins and a draw, in the process scoring five goals, to prove they can flourish without their most dangerous marksman.
“At the moment it’s a day to day thing. He’s desperate to get out there and play his part,” assistant boss Dave Kevan said.
Forest Green defender Lee Collins is a doubt for the clash after missing the 1-1 draw with Carlisle due to an unspecified injury.
Collins was replaced by Udoka Godwin-Malife after picking up a knock in the midweek game against Colchester.
Also missing is James Montgomery, who continues to be troubled by a bad back.
“We’ve just got to keep churning results out and keep getting points to get the total ticking along,” boss Mark Cooper said.
