Edinburgh City were unable to take advantage of leaders Peterhead’s trip to Berwick falling foul of the weather as the second-placed side slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Annan.
City had the chance to close the gap at the summit to two points but they left Galabank empty-handed and remain five adrift.
Annan went ahead in the 35th minute when Aidan Smith scored from the penalty spot after he had been fouled in the box.
Smith had the opportunity to double the hosts’ advantage when they were awarded another penalty seven minutes later but this time his spot-kick was saved by goalkeeper Calum Antell.
The visitors equalised in the 53rd minute through Blair Henderson but Annan regained the lead five minutes later courtesy of Steven Swinglehurst before Christian Nade’s header put them 3-1 up in the 73rd minute.
David Galt scored a quickfire hat-trick to earn Queen’s Park a 4-1 comeback victory over Elgin.
Visitors Elgin broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Ross MacIver rifled home after latching onto Greg Morrison’s pass.
But Queen’s Park were not behind for long, with Kurtis Roberts levelling things up with a fierce strike two minutes later.
Three goals in five second-half minutes from Galt then earned the hosts all three points.
Meanwhile, Chris McStay, Martin McNiff and John Rankin scored for Clyde as they beat Stirling 3-1, with Kyle Banner getting the visitors’ goal.
Albion’s clash with Cowdenbeath was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, with Berwick’s match against Peterhead being called off because of pitch conditions.
