A BUNGLING burglar’s photo outside the home of footie boss Brendan Rodgers is expected to lead cops straight to his gang.

Detectives are poring over the pic of the balaclava-clad clot, thought to have been taken by a fellow raider.

Footie fans were shocked when the image of his half-obscured face appeared on social media yesterday.

A wedding photo of new Leicester City boss Rodgers, 46, and wife Charlotte, 35, can be seen on an inside wall in the background.

A source told The Sun: “Cops will go over the picture with a fine-tooth comb. For it to have emerged just days after the break-in will raise suspicions over who the masked man is and when the picture was taken.

“It could be something that takes the investigation in a new direction, and leads them straight to the robbers.

“Police will want to solve this quickly to put people’s minds at rest.”Terrified Charlotte and stepdaughter Lola, six, locked themselves in a bathroom as raiders ransacked the rented Glasgow home at 2am on Wednesday.

Charlotte tried to ring her hubby in Leicester at 3am but he was asleep. She used a panic button to alert cops but crooks swiped medals from Rodgers’ 2½-year spell as Celtic boss.

Wellwishers sent flowers to the home yesterday. Removal men packed items with the family due to move nearer his new role in the East Midlands.

Rodgers said of the break-in: “For someone to come in at night, it’s horrendous. It gave the girls a fright.”

He rang ex-Celtic director Willie Haughey to sort guards, adding: “I just made sure they were secure up there.”

Police Scotland continue to probe the raid in the suburb of Bearsden.

They said: “We have been made aware of an image in relation to an ongoing investigation. Enquiries will be carried out. Anybody with information is asked to contact police.”

David Videcette, an ex-Scotland Yard detective, said: “It’s a massive own goal by this criminal. Once the police circulate that image, I’m fairly confident that somebody will come forward, either a police officer who has previously dealt with them or someone who knows them.

“The police will then make an arrest and there is technology in place to compare people’s irises so it can be established that it is the same person.”

Former Scotland Yard DCI Mick Neville said: "Human Super Recognisers are able to identify suspects (or victims) from a poor or partial facial image.

"Whilst facial recognition computer software requires a high quality, front on face photo, humans can recognise people from all manner of images. The Scottish Police need to employ a Super Recogniser to look through images of known burglars and compare with the selfie.

"Identification of faces is one skill where humans can still beat the machines."
