Manchester City vs West Ham United - Laporte and Fernandinho missing for City
Posted Wednesday, February 27, 2019 by PA
Manchester City will be without defender Aymeric Laporte (hamstring) and midfielder Fernandinho (groin) for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
The pair were both forced off during the Carabao Cup final on Sunday and join centre-back John Stones (groin) and striker Gabriel Jesus (hamstring) on the sidelines.
On the positive side, left-back Benjamin Mendy (knee) has returned to training and could be in contention. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo (Achilles) is a long-term absentee.
Manuel Lanzini is set to be on the bench again for West Ham, having made his first appearance of the season as a substitute against Fulham on Friday after recovering from a torn ACL.
Fabian Balbuena (knee) is back in training but will not be involved until the weekend at the earliest, while fellow defender Winston Reid has also begun light training – although he is some weeks from returning from his long-term knee injury.
Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko and Carlos Sanchez are still sidelined.
