Clark penalty enough for Dundee United

Dundee United boosted their Ladbrokes Championship promotion chase with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Inverness thanks to Nicky Clark’s penalty.
The first half was goalless and low on incident, though the hosts went close to taking the lead when Peter Pawlett charged down a clearance from goalkeeper Mark Ridgers and the ball rebounded just wide of the goal.
Nicky Clark put United ahead midway through the second half when he was brought down in the box and converted the resulting spot-kick.
Pawlett was sent off for the Terrors in the 72nd minute but Clark’s goal proved to be the winner, though there was a late scare for United as Coll Donaldson’s deflected shot had to be tipped over in the last minute.
