Tom Hamer doubtful for Oldham’s clash with Crewe

Oldham full-back Tom Hamer is a doubt for Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two home clash with Crewe, the Latics’ second match under new boss Paul Scholes.

Hamer came off in the 12th minute of the 4-1 win over Yeovil on Tuesday having been left in discomfort following an aerial collision with Glovers striker Alex Fisher.

While Alex Iacovitti could get his first matchday involvement since joining, fellow January loan signing Oladapo Afolayan is not expected to be ready for his.

Eleventh-placed Oldham are still without Dan Gardner (knee) and Ousmane Fane (leg).

There appears to be no fresh selection problems for Crewe, with boss David Artell having almost a full squad to choose from.

Perry Ng was caught in the face by the boot of Carlisle’s Jamie Devitt, who was sent off, early in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over the Cumbrians but the defender was able to complete the game.

James Jones, the only player unavailable to Artell for that fixture, remains sidelined by his ankle injury.

The result against Carlisle was Crewe’s fourth win in a six-match unbeaten run. They are 13th in the table, level on points with Oldham having played a game more.
