Chelsea are understood to be eyeing up an approach to bring in Zinedine Zidane

ZINEDINE ZIDANE'S potential appointment at Chelsea could pave the way for Eden Hazard to commit his long-term future at the club.

SunSport exclusively revealed that the Blues are ready to turn to the 46-year-old to replace Maurizio Sarri following the humiliating 6-0 defeat against Manchester City.

The Italian is under increasing pressure at Stamford Bridge after his side dropped to sixth in the table after succumbing to a third consecutive away defeat.

It is understood that talks have advanced this week about bringing the former Real Madrid boss to West London, with the World Cup winner keen on a job in England.

And should they appoint Zizou, it would be encouragement for Hazard to sign a new deal at Chelsea, with his current contract to expire in 2020.

The Belgian winger idolises the legendary playmaker, and has let it be known in the past of his desire to play under him.

Real Madrid target Eden Hazard is known to be a huge fan of Zidane

Hazard said in 2017: "Everyone knows the respect I have for Zidane as a player, but also as a manager. He was my idol.

"I do not know what will happen in the future. However, for sure, to play under Zidane would be a dream.

In recent months, the 28-year-old has made no secret of his dream to play for Real Madrid, claiming the famous white jersey is special.

Meanwhile quotes emerged last week in which he said he has made a decision on his future, as he gave the strongest hint yet that his seven-year spell at Chelsea is to come to an end.

Speaking to French radio station RMC, he said: "I know what I am going to do. I have made a decision."

He has previously said he wouldn't discuss fresh terms with Chelsea until the end of the season.

Hazard has once again starred this campaign - chipping in with 15 goals and ten assists in 32 games.

Former team-mate Cesc Fabregas believes he will stay at Chelsea as the club look to tie him down to a £350,000-a-week deal.
