Substitute James Akintunde scored the only goal of the game to earn 10-man Maidenhead a crucial 1-0 Vanarama National League win against Boreham Wood.
The Magpies started on the front foot, with Sam Nombe firing straight at goalkeeper George Legg when well placed in the seventh minute.
Alfie Kilgour brought a superb save from Legg with a header from a James Comley cross on the stroke of half-time.
Femi Ilesanmi’s shot on the turn was comfortably saved by Carl Pentney as Boreham Wood finally threatened.
The same player drilled a shot into the side-netting on the hour, while at the other end Legg superbly clawed away a close-range effort from Akintunde.
The home side broke the deadlock with 16 minutes remaining through Akintunde’s first-time shot from an Adrian Clifton pass.
They were reduced to 10 men five minutes from time when Harold Odametey was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge but managed to hold on.
