OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER will have a big say in Manchester United’s future plans — even if he is not part of them.

The interim boss is playing a key role in identifying transfer targets, despite the fact he may be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino in the summer.

Solskjaer admitted: "I’ve got to know the players' potential, how far they are from that and how they can build or rebuild — and put my views into the club.

"How we want to look in a year or two, what kind of players we need and want.

"It is about what kind of personality to look for. It’s about finding players with the Man United identity and DNA.”

Solskjaer has strengthened his claim to become full-time boss after going nine games unbeaten.

And it is understood club owners the Glazers will come up with a £200million summer transfer kitty.

Solskjaer added: "The club will always get my advice if they ask me.

"That’s quite natural. Whoever is in charge and involved most with the players."

United, who face Leicester on Sunday, have shot from 11 points adrift of the top four to within one win of a Champions League slot since Jose Mourinho was sacked in the week before Christmas.

Yet the Norwegian added: “I’m not here to talk about myself. It’s about getting players to respond.

"My job is to make the players perform better. If I can do that the results get better and that is a big plus for us as a club."

Solskjaer also revealed he meets former boss Sir Alex Ferguson (above) after every game.

He added: “He has been to the training ground and I visit him after every game in his lounge at Old Trafford. It’s great to have a little football chat with him and his friends. He’s still got a good eye for the game."
