Chelsea face summer transfer battle with Bayern Munich over Hudson-Odoi after failed January pursuit

BAYERN MUNICH will pile the pressure on Chelsea to sell Callum Hudson-Odoi in the summer.

The 18-year-old was left devastated after his dream move to the German giants was blocked despite handing in a transfer request.

But Bayern will renew their pursuit of Hudson-Odoi in the summer when the teenager will have just one year left on his contract and an offer of £25million could tempt Chelsea into a deal.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic remains determined to land his No1 target of the January window.

Club president Uli Hoeness said: “The only one Hasan would have liked to buy was this player from Chelsea.

"I have to say that he nearly fell in love with this player and his qualities.”

Chelsea will risk losing the England Under-19 star for training compensation if he leaves out of contract.

Bayern met the £35million asking price for the forward but Chelsea did not want to let their Academy graduate leave.

And those working on the deal believe rejecting a transfer request was not down to money on the table.

Chelsea risked Hudson-Odoi making an instant impact in the Champions League, with Bayern drawn against Liverpool in the knockout stages.

And he could have become the next youngster to shine elsewhere after Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah became stars after leaving Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Sarri reckons the teenager should stay put to repay Chelsea and its academy for the 12 years they spent nurturing his talent.

Sarri said: “I think so. Of course, he’s a very great player. He will become one of the best in Europe — but he has to respect the work of the academy coaches.

“If you are one of the best young players in Europe, maybe the academy helped you. So you have to respect this."

Sarri then left Hudson-Odoi out of the squad for the 4-0 humiliation against Bournemouth in midweek.
