Man Utd flop Memphis Depay reveals he wants to join Chelsea from Lyon

MEMPHIS DEPAY has claimed Chelsea are one of the clubs he is interested in joining - even though Manchester United still have a huge say on his future.

Depay has been tearing it up in France with Lyon since he ended his miserable spell at Old Trafford two years ago.

The Dutch winger has scored 33 goals in 91 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and is now fulfilling the potential which marked him out as one of the best young players in Europe.

That has led to him speaking openly about where he wants to move next in his career should Lyon decide to cash in.

And the 24-year-old admits there are two clubs he would be happy to sign for in the Premier League - Chelsea and Manchester City.

Speaking to Helden magazine, Depay said: "Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe.

"I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, ??Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

"I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football.

"I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club, white shirts with gold.

"But I'm focused right now on Lyon, and then we see where I end up."

Depay now be on the radar of some of the biggest sides, but United are still in a strong position over decisions on his future.

As part of the ï¿¡22million deal which took him from Old Trafford to Lyon, United insisted on inserting a buy-back option which gives them first refusal should the French club decide to sell.

So if Depay continues to impress it could reach a position where Red Devils bosses decide they believe he could flourish in a second spell.

But convincing the Dutchman that it is worth returning to United may be difficult given how he struggled to make any impression during his 18 months at the club.
