MANCHESTER UNITED could allow skipper Antonio Valencia to go this week — with Newcastle and Fulham keen on the out-of- favour star.

The Ecuador right-back’s contract is up in the summer but he can leave sooner on loan or even a free transfer.

Toon boss Rafa Benitez is keen if United will pay up Valencia’s contract while Fulham are also interested after missing out on first choice Victor Moses from Chelsea.

Other clubs are looking at a loan option for Valencia, 33, and taking on his £100,000-plus weekly wage for the rest of the term.

Valencia is shocked by United letting him go so soon and was happy to play out the campaign.

United are also set to move on full-back Matteo Darmian, 29, and both he and Valencia may leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad in the next few days.

Valencia has featured in just five top-flight games this campaign  - playing just once under Solskjaer.

He joined the club in 2009 from Wigan and became an instant fan favourite at Old Trafford.

The two-time Premier League winner has racked up 338 games for the Red Devils, netting on 25 occasions.

While Darmian has amassed 91 appearances since joining from Torino in 2015.
