James Rodriguez could be used by Real Madrid as bait

REAL MADRID are prepared to offer James Rodriguez as part of a deal to try and sign Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen, according to reports.

Colombian Rodriguez is currently on-loan at Bayern Munich with the Germans having the option to make that a permanent arrangement this summer.

He was playing regularly for the German champions until he was sidelined with knee ligament damage in November, with the 27-year-old’s absence coinciding with an upturn in the club’s form.

It seems unlikely Bayern will fork out to keep him at the end of the season, and AS claim that could lead to Madrid recalling him and using him as bait to Spurs.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is notorious for driving a hard bargain and has rejected all approaches from the La Liga giants so far.

But Bernabeu chiefs are keen to add Danish attacker Eriksen to the squad and they are happy to use Rodriguez to try and bring down his price.

Eriksen has been one of the Premier League’s top performers since joining from Ajax in 2013 and has provided 62 goals and 79 assists.

Madrid are desperate for more creativity since last year’s departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rodriguez has been linked with a number of other clubs.

Arsenal, Juventus and Napoli are all also believed to be keen on the South American.
