LYON star Nabil Fekir says Chelsea have made no contact with him about a potential transfer but admitted he dreams of playing in a new league.

Fekir has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in the past with Liverpool, in particular, close to signing the France playmaker.

But Lyon have managed to keep hold of Fekir, who has a contract until 2020.

However, after spending his entire career at Lyon, it appears Fekir is thinking about leaving the Ligue 1 side.

In an interview with French publication Le Progres, the Lyon captain was asked about his future.

When asked about potential interest from Chelsea, he said: “They haven’t called me, but they can be watching my situation without calling me.”

Lyon want to extend Fekir’s contract and he confirmed talks are taking place.

He said: “Discussions are ongoing. I have sat down with the president, things are advancing slowly.

“When will I take a decision? I am not fixing myself a date, I am not in a rush.

“Nobody is putting any pressure on it and I like to take my time.”

But in comments which are sure to worry Lyon, Fekir admitted he is thinking about playing in Europe’s top leagues when asked if this is his final season at Lyon.

He said: “I do not know.

“Last year was supposed to be my last, and in the end I’m still here. I cannot know the answer to this.

“I am happy at Lyon, but which player doesn’t dream of discovering a new league, another club?”

Chelsea are in the market for a midfielder after selling Cesc Fabregas to Monaco and Blues boss Maurizio Sarri says the club are working to bring players in.

He said: “In England we have to play every three days so if I spend 50 per cent of my mental energy on something different I’m in trouble on the pitch.

“And I want to be focused on the pitch so when the club knows very well my opinion it’s enough.

“I am confident, I am sure the club is working so I’m not able to understand why I have to be involved directly with the market.”
