Bayern will outpay Chelsea and offer first team football as they try to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi
CHELSEA face a fresh battle to keep Callum Hudson-Odoi as veteran strike ace Gonzalo Higuain closes in on joining.
Bayern Munich are ready to tempt England ace Hudson-Odoi, 18, with an £85,000-a-week deal.
While Maurizio Sarri’s Blues are on the verge of paying DOUBLE that to Higuain, 31, to solve their goalscoring crisis.
The Argentine forward is on loan at AC Milan, but that deal is being cancelled so he can team up with his former Napoli boss Sarri.
Milan have insisted on finding a replacement before giving the go-ahead.
But they were last night completing a move for their top target — Genoa’s Polish ace Krzysztof Piatek.
Hudson-Odoi’s offer from Bayern tops Chelsea’s and comes with the promise of regular first-team football.
The German giants are determined to make the Blues teenager their marquee signing as the transfer window hots up.
Higuain will have to wait until Thursday for the chance to make his debut — in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at home to Tottenham.
And his arrival will mean the end for flop Alvaro Morata as he heads back to Spain on a six-month deal with Atletico Madrid.
does it cost?
But it is the departure of winger Hudson-Odoi that is sending shockwaves through Stamford Bridge.
The winger is big mates with Jadon Sancho who quit Manchester City last summer for Dortmund and has since earned a call-up to the England squad.
Hudson-Odoi is set to be offered a 4½-year deal by Bayern in a contract worth around £20million.
Chelsea are believed to be offering the player around £70K a week and want him to sign a new deal immediately.
Sarri has repeated his desire for Hudson-Odoi to stay.
He said: “I don’t want to talk with him about something I cannot resolve. I cannot solve it.
“I am very happy with him. In my opinion, he is improving. So, on the pitch, we are really very happy with him.
“He has improved a lot in the last two months.”
