Barcelona to move for a left-back in summer

Barcelona lack adequate cover for Jordi Alba at left-back and the club do not plan on bringing anyone in during the January transfer window.
After Lucas Digne's departure to Everton, Ernesto Valverde requested the signing of a left-back, while the board insisted on giving a chance to Marc Cucurella and Juan Miranda.
The former was included in the team's squad list for their USA pre-season tour, but his performances did not convince his coach as he was loaned to Eibar.
In the meantime, Miranda has not been a part of Valverde's plans and when he was given the chance against Levante, he showed that he isn't yet ready to make the jump.
In case Alba is unable to feature, due to injury or suspension, the 54-year-old tactician would have to experiment with either Thomas Vermaelen or Sergi Roberto on the left.
Cucurella is unlikely to return this summer and the club are counting on Miranda for the future rather than the present, while Moussa Wague, a right-back, is another B team player who will not join the first team until June.
