Late Jonathan Edwards strike earns Halifax draw with Harrogate

Halifax scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser to earn a valuable point and extend Harrogate’s Vanarama National League winless run to four games after a 1-1 draw at the Shay.
The hosts ran out 2-1 winners six days ago in the reverse fixture but Harrogate made amends with a quick start through George Thomson’s fourth league goal of the season.
The midfielder opened the scoring after just six minutes when his attempted cross from the right wing looped over Halifax goalkeeper Sam Johnson and into the top corner.
Thomson, Joe Leesley and Lloyd Kerry had good efforts to extend Harrogate’s first-half lead, while Jordan Preston went closest for Halifax.
Ryan Sellers was inches from levelling in the 62nd minute but his free-kick hit the side-netting, while Ben Tomlinson and Dayle Southwell also went close for the hosts.
However, Jonathan Edwards popped up in the first minute of added time to tap in from close range after Harrogate failed to deal with a corner and snatch a point.
