Mansfield run goes on after goalless home draw with Swindon

Mansfield extended their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League Two to 16 games with a 0-0 home draw with Swindon.

The result left the Stags in the automatic promotion places on goal difference after all four teams below them also failed to pick up three points.

Mansfield were their own worst enemies in the first half as they gifted the visitors a succession of chances, with two mistakes by Krystian Pearce forcing goalkeeper Conrad Logan to make saves from Keshi Anderson and Elijah Adebayo.

Logan then did well to tip a 30-yard free-kick from Matt Taylor on to his crossbar in the 25th minute.

A poor clearance from Ryan Sweeney also gifted the visitors a chance, but Logan was on hand once again to keep out Anderson’s low finish.

Mansfield had chances of their own in the first half. A long-range effort dipped just over from Tyler Walker, while Hayden White’s shot was deflected to safety and Matt Preston headed over

Chances were scarce in the second half. Walker forced a save with another long-range shot and fired over from a counter-attack for the hosts.

Swindon came close to a late winner on a couple of occasions. Marc Richards headed over with 15 minutes left before Jak McCourt shot inches wide at the death.
