Carlisle’s Gillesphey pushing for starting spot against Macclesfield

Carlisle defender Macaulay Gillesphey could be pushing for a return to the starting line-up against Macclesfield on Saturday.
Gillesphey came off the bench against Oldham on Boxing Day, having been rated doubtful for the clash due to a knee injury which kept him out of the 3-2 win over Crawley on December 22.
Jason Kennedy remains on the long-term injured list following a pelvis operation and has not featured since October 2017, but is thought to be a few weeks away from a return.
Manager John Sheridan has high hopes for his side, saying: “I don’t want players thinking that mid-table is fine…I want them to get out of the division.”
Macclesfield boss Sol Campbell will be without suspended Harry Smith, with the striker beginning a three-match ban after he was sent off against Notts County on Boxing Day.
Elliott Durrell and Danny Whitaker could make a return to the squad after missing the matches against Port Vale and County through injury.
Defender Jared Hodgkiss could make an appearance for the Silkmen, having been named on the bench for the previous two matches.
Callum Evans could also make a return to Campbell’s team after recovering from an ankle injury.
