Henderson snatches win for Rochdale against Blackpool

Rochdale finally broke the resistance of 10-man Blackpool as Ian Henderson’s 89th-minute goal handed the home side a 2-1 win.
Dale took the lead in the 19th minute when Henderson’s cross was turned goalward by Matty Gillam, goalkeeper Mark Howard parrying his shot into the path of Ollie Rathbone who stroked home.
Jordan Thompson struck the foot of the post with an edge-of-the-area drive but his afternoon ended on the half-hour when he was dismissed for reacting to a Callum Camps challenge.
Nevertheless, the Seasiders were level in the 35th minute. Dale struggled to handle a pacy run down the inside right channel from Armand Gnanduillet and his square pass was fired into the net by Michael Nottingham.
It was backs to the wall for Blackpool after the break, Matt Done’s effort clipping the woodwork and Howard preventing Camps’ rising shot finding the roof of the net with a fine one-handed save.
But when Henderson collected Brad Inman’s pass with a minute to go, he kept a cool head to slip a neat finish past the Blackpool stopper.
