Ross County staged a second-half fightback to earn a 3-3 draw with Scottish Championship leaders Ayr at Somerset Park.
Lawrence Shankland bagged a first-half brace to help Ayr take a 3-1 lead at the break but Billy McKay (penalty) and Don Cowie ensured a share of the spoils for second-placed County.
The Staggies went ahead in the 12th minute when Josh Mullin found the top corner with a volley from 15 yards.
Shankland levelled nine minutes later from the penalty spot, after Ross Draper fouled Michael Rose, before prodding home Declan McDaid’s cross in the 25th minute, taking his tally to 28 goals for the season.
Andy Geggan extended Ayr’s lead two minutes before the break but the visitors reduced the arrears with a McKay spot-kick in the 48th minute after he had been brought down by Rose.
Cowie equalised four minutes later, tapping home the loose ball from close range, to leave his side one point behind their opponents in the table.
