MK Dons remain at League Two summit after seeing off Carlisle

MK Dons recorded their third win in four games with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Carlisle United to retain their spot at the top of League Two.
Jordan Houghton scored his second goal of the season five minutes into the second half, before Kieran Agard added a second as Paul Tisdale’s side continued their unbeaten league record at Stadium MK.
It was the Dons who were the first to go close through Conor McGrandles’ speculative effort after 30 minutes when the Scotsman cut inside and struck a curling drive goal-wards, which forced Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Collin into action.
John Sheridan’s side responded with a chance of their own just minutes later when Ashley Nadeson’s cross found frontman Hallam Hope at MK’s back-post, before his bundled effort was scrambled off the line.
The hosts took the lead just after the break when defender Houghton’s speculative effort from 25-yards cannoned off the Carlisle post and into the net for his second goal of the season.
The hosts added their second through Agard just after the hour when Dean Lewington found the frontman unmarked inside the six-yard box, before the former Bristol City man slotted home his 11th goal of the season to round off a routine victory.
