Bury pile more misery on Exeter

Goals from Jay O’Shea and Byron Moore earned in-form Bury a 2-0 home win over free-falling Exeter.
O’Shea’s clinical 39th minute opener and Moore’s effort 15 minutes from time deservedly secured a fourth win in five Sky Bet League Two games for the Shakers, who lie fourth in the table.
Exeter forward Jayden Stockley had a penalty saved at 1-0 as the Grecians slipped out of the play-off places after an eighth league game without a win.
As early as the third minute O’Shea had a goalbound free-kick deflected wide for a corner.
And the hosts again went close to opening the scoring when Callum McFadzean forced two smart saves from goalkeeper Christy Pym, first with a sweet strike and then with a header.
Nicky Adams was next to be denied by Pym, who saved well with his legs after the midfielder had hit the target from an acute angle.
But the pressure eventually told and McFadzean’s square ball fell perfectly for O’Shea as he lashed home his seventh goal of the season.
Chris Stokes conceded a needless penalty when he fouled Stockley early in the second half, but the Grecians wasted their chance to draw level as Joe Murphy saved Stockley’s spot-kick.
And Moore secured the points in the 75th minute with a cool finish.
