Alfie Rutherford denied bottom of the table Braintree a valuable point as he scored a last-minute winner for Havant and Waterlooville as they won the Vanarama National League clash 2-1.
Rutherford broke the deadlock for the Hawks in the 55th minute after a first half with few clear chances. He got onto the end of a long clearance and beat three defenders before finding the bottom corner of the net.
Braintree were back on level terms in the 76th minute thanks to an own goal by Havant substitute Ryan Woodford.
The strugglers looked set to take an unlikely draw until Rutherford’s stoppage-time header stole all three points.
