Kaiyne Woolery’s 82nd-minute strike secured a third league win in a row for Swindon after they beat Newport 2-1 at the County Ground.
Woolery, back from injury after two months out, collected a Michael Doughty pass, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net.
Doughty gave Swindon the lead after just one minute by controlling a Kyle Knoyle cross, spinning and rifling into the far corner with his left foot.
Padraig Amond nodded Newport back level soon after the restart however, as he guided a Tyreeq Bakinson cross past Lawrence Vigouroux in the 46th minute.
Swindon were on top in the first half and almost got a second when Elijah Adebayo’s effort was turned onto the post and away to safety by Joe Day.
Doughty came close to a second with a long-range chipped shot which dropped just over and Matt Taylor also shot narrowly wide from around 35 yards.
Newport were limited to half chances throughout, mainly from Mickey Demetriou throw-ins.
