Leganes extended their unbeaten run in LaLiga to five games after a 1-1 draw against Getafe at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
The first half saw matters off the field take precedence as a Leganes fan was taken to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Getafe took the lead with six minutes remaining in the opening period when Leandro Cabrera converted from close range.
Both teams came close in a lively start to the second half, but it was the hosts who drew level in the 64th minute.
Former West Brom defender Allan Nyom rifled home a powerful right-footed equaliser after the ball broke to him 12 yards out.
In a dramatic finish, Nabil El Zhar’s 25-yard effort was beaten away by Getafe goalkeeper David Soria before Leganes’ Ruben Perez was sent off for a high challenge on Sebastian Cristoforo in added time.
The result moved Los Pepineros six points above the relegation zone while Getafe missed the chance to move level on points with fifth-placed Real Madrid.
